IT ALL STARTED WITH A DREAM.........

The Pix Theatre first opened its doors on September 11, 1946 in downtown Nampa. At the time it was built, it was the newest and biggest theatre in Idaho.  Theatre walls were covered with heavy blue-figured damask tapestry and the 688 seats were spring-cushioned. Two usherettes manned each aisle with flashlights because once the show started, the movie, short features, newsreels and cartoons played continuously from 1:30 p.m. to midnight.

Patrons purchased tickets from a stand-alone box office next to the sidewalk and under the marquee of glass, one of the largest in the area that pointed out over the sidewalk.  Adult tickets were 35 cents for a matinee and 50 cents at night; children's tickets were 12 cents.

Upstairs, "a glass-front ‘crying’ room to which
mothers may retire with
restless children and still
watch the screen has been
arranged," in addition to the
ladies lounge and restroom,
the projection room and the
manager's office
.

The theatre continued operations
until May, 2002.
